Matthew 24:36-44

Jesus is close to the end of His earthly ministry and before that comes to an end He prophesies about another beginning.  Jesus, the Son of Man shares with His disciples to keep watch and be ready for the Son of Man.  This is the paradox of how the past and the future collide in the present.  Jesus calls us to live in expectation all the while we are not quite sure what to expect.

Matthew 1:18-25

Outreach message for our guests and visitors.  Jesus is coming, Joseph needs to make a decision.  This is awkward for him, but he keeps trusts what God is doing even when he does not understand the situation.  That message of hope continues for us, when things don’t make sense we put our hope in God.  But what is amazing is that Joseph ultimately “adopts” Jesus as his son and this parallels how God adopts us as his own children, a story of grace.

Luke 2:1-20

The shepherds receive the good news the rest of the world sleeps. That news is life changing and life transforming: God is with us, hope is now embodied in Jesus Christ. That hope is not abstract, it is real. We can live in that hope even when others do not.
