The Sermon on the Mount

Henry LoSermons

The words of Christ recorded in Matthew chapters 5, 6 and 7 are often referred to as the Sermon on the Mount. The reason for this title is because Jesus spoke these words to His followers up on the side of a mountain. These words are from Jesus and they have become quite familiar to many Christians, however these words are also the least understood and furthermore least obeyed teachings. Jesus’ sermon provides us an answer to this important question, “how should we live as citizens of the Kingdom of God”? Jesus’ main message was to teach about the Kingdom of God and to demonstrate a new way to live not only in the future Kingdom to come but the present Kingdom that was here and now. As we explore Jesus’ sermon we will find that His sermon is as relevant today as it was when Christ spoke them many centuries ago.
